Saturday, April 30, 2016 from 1:00 – 3:00 pm
Join us for our second annual heron chick birthday party! We’re celebrating the birth of over 30 heron chicks! We’re serving birthday cake, and will have telescopes set up to observe the chicks and their quirky tufted hairdos. Come hear the cacophony as they chatter for food! Observe the action, and cherish the fact that these fascinating birds have chosen to nest so close by. Last year was a blast! Don’t miss this fun, free event, open to all! We’ll be at Commodore Park near the Ballard Locks Fish Ladder on the Magnolia side.
April 2 and April 30 Spring Viewing Events
This spring we will hosting 2 viewing events! We will have telescopes setup and our HHH naturalists on hand. The events are free and everybody is welcome so please help us spread the news!
April 2, 2016
Observe the herons as they do some nest building – the male herons bring the twigs, and if acceptable, the female places it in the nest. Watch them incubate eggs and protect the colony, or stand in the water with their steely gaze ready to spear a fish.
April 30, 2016
We will hopefully be able to see some heron chicks. Bonus is, we will be celebrating the chicks hatching with birthday cake!
Join us for one or both events at Commodore Park near the Ballard Locks Fish Ladder on the Magnolia side. Drop by anytime between 1:00 and 3:00 pm!
Give the Gift of an HHH Membership
Please consider a year-end donation to Heron Habitat Helpers – or become a member! Both are 100% tax deductible.
Your partnership makes our work possible – helping to ensure the great blue heron continues to thrive throughout the Puget Sound region. We think that contributes to what makes living in the Pacific Northwest pretty cool.
Plus, we have some great events coming up in 2016, and membership entitles you to free and/or discounted entrance.
Heron Habitat Helpers annual memberships make a great gift. We’ll let the recipient know you care by mailing them a beautiful thank you card.
HHH is a 100% volunteer organization working to make a difference – not only for herons, but for the natural habitat that is their home – and yours.
