Heron chicks have hatched! And we are so excited to finally be hosting events again.

Join us Saturday, May 14 from 11am – 1pm at Commodore Park.

We’ll have our scopes set up, educational displays, and of course, our naturalists on hand to answer questions.

This year, the colony is boasting over 75 nests – many already with chicks. There is a lot of activity and we’re excited to welcome you to celebrate with us.

Heron Monitor Training and Info – 2022 season

The herons are returning to the colony and the 2022 nesting season is starting!
We are hosting Monitor Training Sessions for volunteers.
If you want to learn more about what this volunteer opportunity entails, (or other volunteer opportunities) please join us too!
We’ll be at the Commodore Park colony on these dates:

2nd Saturday Work Party Feb 12, 2022 10am – 1pm

We’ll be working on the Stevens Site in Magnolia. Weed out invasive plants and mulch natives to help numerous bird species, amphibians, & mountain beavers – and see what’s already sprouting and budding in your local forest. We’ll also take a short walking tour to our other nearby restoration sites.  No experience necessary. Come for the whole time – or drop by for an hour.

Dress for the weather, in clothes you can get snagged and muddy. (We have tools and gloves)

Meet at the Park entrance beside 4433 Brygger Dr W, just north of W Government Way and 34th Ave W.
